A bow is a long-range weapon usually, but not exclusively, made of wood that shoots arrows. A bowstring is added and is used to release arrows. Most significant characters who wielded the bow were Bard and Kíli, as well as Tauriel and Legolas. Hobbits, elves, and men mostly used bows and arrows, and dwarves used it rarely.
In The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, Kili has a bow as well as an arrow and always preferred that weapon. However, it is not seen after the first Hobbit film, implying to be left behind in the Misty Mountains. Thorin also bears a bow in The Desolation of Smaug and The Battle of the Five Armies. His was presumably lost when the Spiders of Mirkwood attacked and captured him and his company. He had one again in the last film. Also in both films, Tauriel of Mirkwood holds onto hers, but it is destroyed by King Thranduil.
Legolas' main weapon was bows and arrows. He only ran out of arrows in The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey. He was given a bow from Lothlorien. There are also some seen in The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers
