Dís is the sister of Thorin Oakenshield and Frerin, only daughter of Thrain, granddaughter of King Thror, mother of Fíli and Kíli, and second cousin of Dain Ironfoot.
Biography[]
Dís was born in Erebor around the year TA 2760. She was ten years old during the time of Smaug's attack on Erebor in TA 2770. Thorin promised his sister that he would try to protect her sons and that they would come home alive. Before her sons left for the Quest of Erebor, she gave her youngest child Kili her rune stone for safe keeping. She also was mentioned ot think that her children were reckless. Kili also promised to his mother that he would return Her name is also seen on a tapestry when Bard learns who Thorin Oakenshield really is.
When Fili and Kili return with their two companions, Oin and Bofur after leaving the survivors of Lake-town, Thorin refers to them as his sister sons.
