Sting is the sword of Bilbo Baggins, later Frodo Baggins and Samwise Gamgee.

History[]

Sting was forged in Gondolin in the late Second Age and was later lost with its other partners, Orcrist and Glamdring.

In Bilbo's possession[]

During the Quest of Erebor, Gandalf had rescued teh company from Trolls and later found a cave with the dwarves assisstence. It was behind leaves on teh ground. Gandalf later grabbed it and gave ti to Bilbo Baggins so the Hobbit had a weapon to possess in case he got in trouble. The sword fought its service, and its famous service in the Battle of the Five Armies.

Sixty years later, Bilbo later kept it in a chest.

In Frodo's possession.[]

Later in Rivendell. Bilbo gave his sword to Frodo. He lost the sword after fighting with Shelob.

Sam's possession[]

Sam used it believing Frodo to be dead and use the ring to throw it into the fires to complete Frodo's quest himself, and Sam took up Sting. Later Frodo turned out to be alive, so Sam gave the sword back to Frodo

When Frodo departed over seas, he gave the sword to Sam as a family heirloom with the Red Book of Westmarch with it.
